cowboy boots, apron, braids…

good advice

decide what it is you want.
write that shit down.
make a fucking plan.
and... work on it. every. single. day.

LOVE this. I do get stopped at step one though... So here it goes, I am going to go with my gut at the moment. it may change tomorrow. who knows. who knows what i'm even talking about or if i really want what i want when i get there. i tend to get stopped at that stage regularly. so eff it - i'm just going to say it, with confidence and authority today. and if it changes, so be it. wipe the slate, and begin again.
what i want: to take that baking class, be a Home Ec. teacher, have summers off, and feel happy because i'm being creative, i'm investing my energy into the future, into something good, something traditional, something with meaning, something tangible.
plan: get ready to sign up! - be ready to say yes, and figure out how to pay for it. get other ducks in a row to survive during school. work on it, every day...? how exactly? i'm thinking.....

Today, I like

It helps me to remember some of the things I like, that I am naturally and easily drawn to, or that I've always just loved. It helps me remember that I am not a robot, and that I am vibrant and alive. Some days, I'm drawn to certain things more than others. Today, I like..

slow walks, the smell of sunlight on fallen pine needles, campers, jewelry, photography, the massive array of colors and shades of red, leafy flowers, the crescent moon, yoga and tattoos

shift

I wonder what it would be like to spend an entire day doing what I want to do. And not in a scheduled-up kind of way. In fact, maybe not getting into a car at all, no specific time frame for anything. What would that look like?
I'm thinking Sunset magazine session, then some Pinterest-ing, drinking tea, going for a walk, sitting in the sun, painting toenails, doing some gardening, flipping through some cookbooks, heading down to the beach for a stroll, walking to the pub for a beer or glass of wine, reading a book (for pleasure), sitting outside some more, playing music, painting, watching a movie, swimming in a pool, soaking in a jacuzzi, more outdoor time, another walk, sunset watching…
It is a tall TALL order. But I think maybe it would energize me, revive me, relax me, and make me remember that ….
I don't know how to finish that sentence. Maybe I just try to do 2 or 3 of those things, and see what happens. I'm thinking attitude shift no matter what.

entertainment

As of late, I have been really interested in seeing live music again. Toward the end of last year, we went to see several bands and even went to a 2-day festival, and many artists really knocked my socks off! Inspired me to see more live music as it is one of my favorite things in life. Anyway, January started out with some great shows, and because it's the beginning of a new year, I figured I could actually jot down a year's worth of shows before I forget. This is what I have:

Pinback
Creedle/fluf
Rocket from the Crypt
Brian Regan

coming up…
Lucinda Williams
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings
RFTC again
OFF!
Rodrigo y Gabriella
Barry Gibb
